The trouble with the Muslim Entrepreneur Network

Webinar: Partners at the Muslim Entrepreneur Network commemorated 1 year of their Leverage programme by talking about unity, refunds, and changes to the 2nd year.

As you may have noticed, Muslim Reviews have been heavily critical of the Muslim Entrepreneur Network (MEN) in recent days, namely their Leverage programme, Habibi Coin ICO, eCom Empires Academy and Empty Trip app. Our concern primarily stems from people’s dissatisfaction in the way partners at MEN have conducted themselves towards investors, the public, and now our mosques and charities. And by partners, we mean Com Mirza, Rocky Mirza, Harun Qureshi and Haroon Rashid.

A dossier

Muslim Reviews is preparing to publish a dossier of findings that raises alarming questions surrounding the authenticity of many of their claims and the ethical nature of their marketing methods. We believe the public ought to be aware of a questionable pattern of behaviour, as well as how MEN now wish to gain “investments” from our mosques and charities.

These findings are based on facts held publicly, such as publications made directly by MEN and their partners – as well as from those close to the organisation who have spoken out.

With MEN seeking potentially millions of pounds from our mosques and charities – and with Ramadan a few months away – we feel now is a critical time for voicing our concerns and making our findings public.

Concerned Muslims or “haters”

It is clear that our worries are shared by others in social media, with some putting questions directly to Harun Rashid. It is unfortunate that MEN have chosen to ignore all attempts to allay these concerns, choosing instead to accuse the concerned Muslims of “hating” and “jealousy.” Below are recent social media posts by Harun Rashid likely aimed at people who have publically and privately asked questions about MEN.

What we find erroneous about Harun Rashid’s attitude is how upon relying so much on people’s Islamic sentiments – using Qur’anic verses, hadiths of our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and stories of the Sahabas – they can then dismiss the views of the greater (and fundamentally more important) congregation of the Ummah, by accusing them of “hating” and being “jealous.” Clearly the #WeAreOne philosophy does not apply here. One may argue that this contemptuous attitude towards people calling for basic accountability is not dissimilar in nature to how they have seemingly handled other people’s money – i.e. using powerful words with no real substance in the end.

Furthermore, to make matters worse, we are hearing reports that MEN are threatening to sue people for defamation for asking wholly legitimate questions about their business affairs.

Your help

Whilst we prepare our review of MEN, do you have concerns yourself? Maybe you are a current or an ex-member and want to share your experience. If you want to provide us with crucial evidence, please get in touch to discuss this matter further.

what about the ecom empire launched early 2017 for which they charged 2000 $? I and many if not most of the students lost money and time under the false promise that we would easily scale business to 10k a month but the material was not top nor the follow up and coaching.

We are aware of Hurun Rashid’s eCom Empire Academy and the many dissatisfied customers from it, not least why it was shelved so quickly. Unfortunately, your experience is not so dissimilar to others in the Leverage programme. We hope that our work raises much needed awareness on the issues.

Can we ask if you can kindly tell us about your experiences in more detail? For example, how much money did you make and how many follow up seminars was planned? Anything you share will encourage others to open up about their own experiences as well.

We have amended our article so it mentions their various projects, including the eCom Empire Academy.

    • Ofcourse its a scam. Unfortunately you were naive enough to believe their false claims. You learnt the hard way. But i also do not blame you because they constantly harass you to join their business. They are scammers and below there is a comment about another naive individual who still thinks they are not a scam lol. Remember that no stranger will help you like the way they promise. They also use the islam to justify their business but they are all scam. 99.9% of people who have heard or looked into these men will agree.

I’ve known com mirza. I’ve never been part of their mastermind or ecomm programs because I could sense these guys didn’t know anything. I’ve had friends participate; one took a loan to join his courses. He was highly dissatisfied.

  • You need to get a life, stop this b******t and hate on muslims who are trying to help other Muslims. Ppl have gotten their money back if they wanted refund, so where the hell is the scam. Laverage will shine insha Allah, and the success of Laverage will remind you of your failure insha Allah. Stop this if you fear Allah, because you are slandering innocent people.

We are not discussing whether Muslims have been helped or if they have obtained refunds. We are discussing matters relating to disclosure, openness in business, and their overall marketing approach.

For many people, it may become a “scam” if an organisation over-promises for the purpose of gaining members – then under-delivers, over-inflates their partners’ net worth, see an ever-increasing list of dissatisfied customers, as well as learn of past investors whom have lost millions that used the same model of virtual assets and franchises.

Kindly refrain from using profanity, otherwise we may remove your comment(s).

    • You gave 2 days to get a refund and that is only to the initial group that joined. What about waiting until a year elapses (which would be in April)?

  • Thank you for sharing this valuable information.

I was originally sucked in by the hype and drank the MEN Kool Aid, but can’t believe I was so gullible now.

As I’ve seen in recent days all over the internet the folks behind MEN have no track-record of business success. They seem to be running their “business” as a bit of a joke. It’s disingenious of them to be milking thousands of pounds out of fairly naive brothers and sisters.

I, for one, will carry out scrupulous due diligence in future and only work with people with a bona fide track-record.

I feel so stupid for having been sucked in.

    Thanks.

I have been waiting for a month to get my refund back from these people and still no news. I have been told the payment system they use “stripe” is down and not possible to make refunds. When I check on stripe, all services are up to date and online. I don’t know who is telling the truth and who is lying. I am starting believe this is a scam to get others hard earn money to fund so called Mirza’s/ Qureshis’s and Rashid’s life styles and business.

This is the company name mentioned on the MEN website

    https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/10417860/filing-history

ZERO profit shown so far from 2016 to 2018, really?

Company has only £2 shareholding >>> so in case of fraud or a windup of the company NONE of the investors or student would be eligible for a refund, as NOTHING was disclosed to the authorities.

I would suggest to always pay ‘by making a trail’ such as paying through the PayPal or Stripe account.

If you have paid via such account then I would strongly suggest contacting PAYPAL (or STRIPE or any other payment company) and ask for the COMPANY NAME to which you have paid the monies to.

It is a simple cross check to see whether the company you THOUGHT you were doing the business with (i.e. MEN) is the same as the one you PAID TO.

Company has not filed any VAT return form >>> I have noticed that Mr Haroon Qureshi has boosted to earned £ MILLIONS >>> starting is April 2017 >> evidenced with this trophy from Russell Brunson >>>

    https://www.facebook.com/HaroonQureshi89/photos/a.184349391773224.1073741828.183182701889893/748322215375936/?type=3&theater

As per my understanding, Mr Haroon Qureshi is a UK national and a UK Resident for the tax purposes so he SHOULD be paying taxes on his earning in the UK, to the least VAT cannot be escaped with any sort of corporate structuring, that’s a simple TAX EVASION (and 100% PUNISHABLE CRIME under the UK jurisdiction).

VAT is payable on a quarterly basis to HMRC based on the company’s Revenue, as per Mr Qureshi’s boosting picture, it is obvious that he should have started paying the VAT (back in 2016 based on his revenue in excess of £78,000 per annum >>> clearly £ Millions are more than £78,000!!!).

They should have paid VAT to HMRC on the company’s Revenue of £Millions (i.e. fee collected from the students, online subscription, selling of online courses etc). However, no such record is filed on the company’s house. It is an extremely WORRYING situation, as it is clearly indicating a FRAUD, perpetrated by an intelligent group of internet Cons.

If any of you is in circles with Mr Haroon Qureshi then kindly him know.

In addition, you can see that Mr Haroon Qureshi has RESIGNED from the Directorship of the company MEN on the 25 April 2018 >>>

    https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/10417860/filing-history

So generally be VERY CAUTIOUS to bind yourself into any sort of financial dealings with him.

Why has he resigned just before the annual accounts filing?

If he is STILL doing business in UK, then most likely he has set up some bank accounts in the OFFSHORE COMPANIES (such as Dubai — being friends with the CONS and Rocky etc) so they are ‘moving their share of Revenue’ to the offshore jurisdictions >>> this is a childish act and an illicit ‘escape route’ to avoid UK taxes. HMRC has set up intercountry protocols to deal with such practices.

You can simply file a grievance INVESTIGATION request with HMRC with filling in the simple details such as the date of payment, evidence of payment, and fill in Directors’ detail at the time of the business transaction. This is regardless of his late action of filing the resignation with companies house, as he was part of the business dealing at the time of his directorship (so he and his team would be classed as obliged in the sight of Law).

It is a LEGAL matter, so please do not take it lightly.

Muslim must act according to the boundary set by Islam. Not by the boundary set by own thought!!

Doing a business whether ONLINE or OFFLINE both are LEGAL and ALLOWED in Islam. However, making false claim to boost off FAKE PROMISES is complete NOT ALLOWED in Islam.

Mr Haroon Qureshi has build a course on ‘HOW TO SELL ON AMAZON’, the course was worth no more than £100-£150, however, he DECEIVED people:
    A. telling a LIE that they would become millionaires using his Amazon course
    B. his testemonials were fake as NO ONE becomes millionaire by selling on Amazon
    C. his course was OVER PRICED £1,500-£2,500

It is definitely CHEATING innocent Muslims on the financial outlook and hope of accomplishing something which is NOT POSSIBLE, atleast NOT, and I would reassure you it is NOT POSSIBLE to become a millionaire selling on Amazon. FULL STOP.

Other PONZI schemes, such as investing in BITCOIN like coins are HARAAM. I would advise to read up on learning why it is Haraam, there is a GHARAR ‘uncertainty and speculation’ around the outcome, the way investments are taken, the way valuation is computed using the software, etc etc. There are hadiths of Prophet PBUH confirming this, kindly read up.

It is also HARAAM (for the general public) to invest in any Corporate SHAREs whether it be a public listed company (Apple, Samsung etc) or any private company, there are hadiths of Prophet PBUH confirming this, kindly read up.

In terms of becoming a Franchisee >>> it is ALLOWED, however, you need to have a full documentation of WHAT are the RIGHTS and OBLIGATIONS of the Franchisee and the Franchiser, BEFORE entering into such contract. Otherwise, any such contract if not documented is also FORBIDDEN in Islam based on ‘Gharar – speculation’

Business is SIMPLE my friends, read up on the SEGMENTS of business such as operations, finance, accounting, marketing, sales, company law etc. Any business degree would cover all these subjects, you can learn and implement in your business.

When it comes to FINDING A MENTOR >>> NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVERRRRR >>> And I would stress again NEVER >>> look at the person’s hype >> look for their QUALIFICATION >>>

    1. what business DEGREE do they have
    2. what business QUALIFCATION do they have
    3. what business WORK EXPERIENCE do they have under their belt
    4. what professional COMPANIES have they worked at or worked with

There are REASONS why degrees are called ‘BUSINESS DEGREEs’, you would learn about various aspects of the business whilst studying such subjects, then do some internship in companies prior to setting up your own business.

Issue is that most of the people these days want ‘a quick fix’ rather than doing the hard work themselves, they want others to do it FOR THEM. That’s why, people like Cons and Mr Qureshi would always flourish, Ponzi Schemes work for precisely this very reason.

Be cautious, stay safe and let your loved ones know about these scam, baakallaho feekum
